“Tayal” is literally famous for its beauty, but not tasty or edible as it looks. You have truly mentioned that it is sung in the Manipuri folk tale “Pebet & Houdong Lamboiba”. In that folk tale, Pebet (the mother bird) did compare it with the beauty of Houdong Lamboiba (the cat), be fooling him to save her little kids. Tayal is a creeper plant mostly found in the bushes. Don’t ever try to taste eat, don’t know what might be the consequences.
It’s a famous fruit that symbolized the moral ” All that glitters is not gold.”
Beautiful fruit..looks awesose..edible?????.Never seen in life.Watching on this picture for the first time. Heard of it in Pebet and Houdong Lamboiba story during childhood 40+ years back. This fruit is BEAUTIFUL indeed.
